Organesson2024, 10:06, Digital Video & VHS-C, stereo
A portmanteau of the organic and synthesized. Organesson, unstable element of time passage and the eternal struggle for breath.

Organesson was created using analog and digital video synthesizers, feedback loops, and time posterization.

Many years spent in a monochromatic haze. What awaits at the end is this element, as our lives become intertwined with digital constructs. Where does the line between what is human and what is technology fall? Where does the barrier exist between the organic and the synthesized?

Made under the guidance of Mike Stoltz as part of an independent study during the Spring 2024 semester.

Screenshot of the patch I created inside of VIDEO WAAAVES, software by Andrei Jay.

I used a combination of found footage, old VHS movies, and my own shot footage, passing all of them through VIDEO WAAAVES.
I also used ARTIFICIAL LIFE to generate some of the oscillations seen in the beginning and throughout the video.

Most of the software was controlled via a raspberry pi running it, and a korg nanokontrol2 MIDI controller.
