Andrew Frangella

Andrew Frangella is a media artist working primarily with moving image, sound, and obsolete technologies. Currently pursuing an MFA in Cinema at Binghamton University, his work explores the beauty of decay and emotional resonance by returning to what lingers, and to the often tense relationship between memory and technology. His practice is rooted in a fascination with (technological) artifacts: circuit-bent video/audio gear, CRTs, and outdated media formats; which he reclaims to build sensorial, nonlinear environments. Often blurring the boundaries between analog and digital, his films and expanded cinema works reflect on disconnection, mortality, and the tension between natural and synthetic systems.

His work has screened internationally at festivals and galleries such as Motivate Underground, Photometria In Motion, SEFF Binghamton, Yellowhammer Film Fest and PRAXIS.
