This video work uses MS-DOS emulation software and James Gleick’s
Chaos
to explore the relationship between order and disorder. It asks: Is there order in the chaos we experience daily? Can randomness be governed? The program draws from the mathematical study of chaotic systems, or “chaos theory.” An original piano soundtrack, performed by me, is processed through two granular synthesizers—emphasizing that despite its sonic and visual appearance, this chaos operates under its own set of laws.
