my indecisive heart has many strings; attempts to re-imagine skipped beats


What else is lost? 
When looking at the gaps through which life once stood, 

life that managed to ward off reality for something more comfortable, 
and that never stopped to see what was wilting. 
and if it did see it wilting, 

would it have stopped, 
even for a day? my garden is filthy. 
infested, 
unfertilized. 

and I don’t remember 
when I last fed the bird, 
who would visit every morning, 

or when I last put up a pot for tea, 
and squeezed the lemon, 
carefully removing the pits from their sweet bath.
