Within a Widow’s Throw (2024, 10:48, stereo)

To the spider living in-between the window and the screen,
where are you?
Your web has laid here for some time now, and yet there is no sign of you.

This composition was recorded over the course of 3 months, when I was taking Monteith McCollum’s Electronic Soundscapes class. I was able to use a variety of microphones and modular synthesizers to distort, loop, and manipulate field recorded samples. I was most partial to the Phonogene / Morphagene because of their sampler nature and resemblance to tape. This project, and that class, really ignited my interest in cassette recorders and tape loops, of which I have now made many of my own.

It was also an opportunity to work with hardware, which I am now a huge proponent of. I also cannot stress enough how impactful engaging directly with the environment was for my body, mind, and work.
